June Kiddicare blog - Potty training triplets!

In the past 4 months we’ve moved house twice, I’ve changed jobs, we’ve had our first ambulance trip and now we’re potty training our three little treasures!”
“But I’m not ready!” Was my first response when Harry insisted on using his potty and wearing big boy pants. Oh god, how on earth do you potty train three 2.5 year olds?

Rant alert! Am I the only one?

It's 4:30pm. It's witching hour. I desperately search for the remote to stick on some Cebeebies so I can cook dinner. After questioning all of the children I discover it's in the pasta cupboard...obviously. My fumbling desperate fingers smash in 614. Silence.

So I'm there cooking and I hear "goodnight twins" shortly followed by "time to get up twins" and several other "twins" phrases thrown in for good measure. Am I the only one that recoils at these phrases? Am I the only one that thinks "you lazy sod, is it too much for you to say their individual names?"

The children in the programme are not twins, I know this because if they were they would insist upon their names being used (plus I checked the credits).

How far do you go to instil good manners in your toddler?

I recently read a post about manners on one of the millions of parenting sites that spring up on my Facebook and twitter feed. It was asking whether manners are old fashioned and how our expectations of children have changed over the years.

Should boys still hold open doors for girls? Should children stand up when adults enter a room? Should your toddler say please and thank you?

A little vent...

This blog is generally about day to day life with triplets, but today I feel like having a little rant...because I can. This little thing has bugged me for a while, but after a particularly irritating and saddening experience recently I thought I would have a little vent on here.

We hadn't made any plans for the day so I thought I would take the boys to a little indoor play area with a coffee place attached. Most parents/caregivers will sit and have a coffee whilst watching their children or get inside the play area with the children, but why oh why do some people think that it's ok to plonk their sprogletts into the play area and then bugger off and have a coffee and a chat with their friends?

Pampers offer £20 vouchers for twins, £30 for triplets and £40 for quads

It's always nice to come across a company who look after us multiple parents. Heck someone's got to! Pampers offer parents of twins, triplets and more vouchers to spend on nappies and wipes you just need to follow the steps below:

  1. Write to p&g@teleperformance.com and say that you would like to take advantage of their very generous offer for multiple parents. They will send you a reference number in return.
  2. You will then need to send an email with a scanned copy of the children's birth certificates, the reference number and your address to the email address that they provide. (I took a picture of the certificates on my phone!)
  3. My vouchers arrived in 3 days!

Happy nappy shopping!

Latest Kiddicare blog post: A new job

So it’s nearly Christmas and I cannot believe that I am the proud owner of three nearly two year olds. My little babies are a distant memory and they are now boisterous little boys, full of fun, defiance and excitement.

People often ask me if it’s getting easier now that they are getting older and although certain aspects are getting easier such as feeding and even logistics, they are definitely more demanding now! Sometimes I feel like I live with three little dictators – if they want something, they want it 10 minutes ago!

Are your gums in need of some love?

I have to admit that I have been a little neglectful in the teeth department since the trio came along (I mean it's not like I was busy or anything!) So, I took the plunge and organised a family trip to my quite unsympathetic dentist earlier this month, where she told me that I had swollen gums and was at risk of developing gum disease! What?! I have never had a problem with my teeth or gums, I don't even have any fillings! She said that pregnancy can bring about all sorts of hormonal changes affecting teeth and gum health and I needed to act quickly to avoid further damage.

Kiddicare post: One on one time with triplets

My lastest Kiddicare blog is about spending more quality one on one time with each baby and getting used to the sometimes disgusting side of parenting!

The joys of weaning multiples!

The lovely Shona at Wriggly Rascals very kindly asked me to write about my experience of weaning the boys and although it was quite a while ago now, the mess that they create is still just as bad.
